The new job became demanding as the first half of the year comes to a close, but I thoroughly enjoy it. No complaints. On top of that, I had to move, which occupied a lot of my time and focus.
These two factors slowed progress with the series, but there has been progress nonetheless.
Book 2 has been sent to the editor.
I put some funds aside and communicated about when they could conduct the edits. I chose the same editor as the first book, I appreciated their approach and I felt like we had a good relationship. They also seemed to think so and took on the job. It took some time for the editor to get to the manuscript, they are also busy people. I haven't received their comments yet, but I know they are working on it.
I have been thinking more and more about doing a complete self-publish route. There are some artists I have come in contact with, perhaps they could design the cover? I think I want to see what state the manuscript is in after the edits. It may need another look over, which may prompt me to seek an assisted self-publish route again. We shall see. But, progress is being made and this is off my desk as least.
Book 3 is on the way.
Writing is slow, slower than I wanted, but all the pieces are fitting together really nicely. I am really happy with it and my momentum with writing it is sustaining. Hopefully a full draft can be done by the end of the year, but this will be determined by the state of Book 2 after the edits.
Because of the progress being made with Book 2 and Book 3, I haven't even thought about the audio book for Book 1.
I think I will feel more accomplished once the edits for Book 2 are back, giving me the momentum for getting the cover designed etc. In the meantime, I will keep on writing and keeping it in my routine.
