This blog intends to be a timeline of the progress made with the second book.
The first addition to the blog is to announce that the first draft of the second book is complete! Although there is still a lot of work to do, this is a fantastic milestone to hit.
The next part is editing, I will be doing my own editing initially but I will soon be contacting an editor to work on this first draft before going any further. Of course, this can take time and there is no dedicated date for completing it. There might be several edits and possible re-writes before moving on and I can't anticipate what exactly will need to be done. I wish I could say it will be done by the end of the year, that is the current goal, but no promises can be made.
There has been a title change, the second book was going to be titled 'Into the Depths' which fits the settings the characters end up in, but this ending will have to wait for the third book as an appropriate amount of content was written for the second book which also warranted a different title. Therefore, the new title is 'Into the Fray'.
Another unforeseen consequence is the length. As it stands, it is just over 92,000 words, about 28,000 shorter than the first book. Although more content could be included, the new ending fit in nicely. With edits, the word count may increase but as it stands, I am happy with this length as the subsequent additions to the series are likely to be much longer.
I both dread and look forward to this next part. I tend to get sick of reading the same content over and over, but I love how refined it becomes. All part of the journey.
